Our dream
For years we dreamed of finding a castaway island and creating our own paradise. With cool breezes, blue skies, sandy white beaches and crystal clear water full of marine life we found our paradise on the island Koh Lipe in the Andaman sea.

Inspired by Thai architecture and a love of design we have combined comfort and style with a dream location. Whether just hanging out on the beach or diving in the beautiful seas around or exploring uninhabited islands in the Tarutao National Marine Park, an unforgettable island holiday awaits you at the Lipe Castaway Beach Resort and Castaway Dive Centre

Sea View Breezy Bungalow
Our two storey wooden Breezy Bungalows with sea view are at the front of the resort by the beach. Upstairs each bungalow has a bedroom with a queen size double bed, mosquito net and a large cooling ceiling fan. The bedroom has double doors opening out on to a small balcony giving views out over the ocean. Downstairs is an en-suite bathroom with a shower (cold water only), a sink and a western style toilet. Outside there is the main wooden deck with cushions and hammocks for chilling out on.

Garden View Comfy Bungalow
Our singe storey large wooden Comfy Bungalows are set back from the beach in a lightly wooded garden. Each bungalow has a bedroom with a queen size double bed, mosquito net and a large cooling ceiling fan. A small en-suite bathroom with a shower (cold water only), a sink and a western style toilet. Outside a large wooden deck with an overhanging roof completes the bungalow. On the deck are hammocks for lazing in and some cushions and a small table.

We have roll up mattresses which we can put on the floor and extra mosquito nets, so an extra adult or 2 children can share the bungalow.

Garden View Breezy Bungalows

Upstairs each bungalow has a bedroom with a queen size double bed, mosquito net and a large cooling ceiling fan. The bedroom has double doors opening out on to a small balcony, the perfect place to relax and catch the cool evening breeze. Downstairs is an en-suite bathroom with a shower (cold water only), a sink and a western style toilet. Outside there is the main wooden deck with cushions and hammocks for chilling out on.

Family House
We have one Family House near the back of the resort. The Family House is 2 storeys. Up a steep staircase is a large open wooden deck and the main bedroom. On the deck is a hammock with some cushions, chairs and a table. On the ground floor is a second bedroom and a large shared bathroom with a sink, western toilet and a shower (cold water only).

Both bedrooms have queen size double beds, a mosquito net and a fan. Each room in the house has its own lock and the common areas are open. The house is not suitable for small children because of the steep stairs, and open deck.

Thai Massage

The restaurant
Our restaurant serves primarily Thai food with a few western dishes. Overlooking Sunrise Beach and facing the Andaman sea with a beautiful view of nearby islands, it is a relaxed and elegant setting, where you can eat and drink from breakfast till late.

You can’t come to Thailand and not eat Thai food. Our chefs are proud of their national cuisine and delight in sharing it with you. They serve a full Thai menu with all the traditional favorites and a few island specialties to spice things up. Our barbecue serves fresh fish which we catch daily ourselves.

Castaway Bar
Whether its a pre-dinner drink or a lazy afternoon cocktail, our spacious and cosy bar is very welcoming. Enjoy fresh fruit smoothies, real coffee, a wide selection of spirits and mixers, wine, or simply a cold beer. With its breathtaking view our bar will make your days long and enchanting.

About Koh Lipe
Koh Lipe is a small island about 2km long in the Andaman sea, which is on the west coast of Thailand. The only inhabited island in the Tarutao National marine park, Koh Lipe is part of Satun province near Thailand’s southern border. Before you come to Koh Lipe you need to work out how to get here, what to bring and what to expect when you get here.

Activities for Koh Lipe
Koh Lipe in the Tarutao National Park is a small quite island, but there’s more to do than just lie around! With the park at our door step there are a lot of water based activities and trips to go on.

Scuba Diving
Go diving with our very own Castaway Divers! A diving trip is more than the time spent under water, it is the whole experience. Diving in small groups of up to eight people from purpose built long tail boats all our customers have a personal experience. Tarutao has a lot of coral reefs to dive with a large choice of sites for all levels of experience. We teach in English, Dutch and German.

Snorkelling
Although diving is great fun, you don’t have to dive in order to enjoy the wonderful sea life. Koh Lipe has several coral reefs including one right in front of the resort. Before going out have a look at our reef charts and learn a bit about the coral then snorkel out to experience it for yourself. Or if you like join one of our snorkelling trips to nearby sites and see even greater varieties of sea life.

Kids Snorkelling
With so much to see under the water it should come as no surprise to parents to learn that kids love snorkelling. We have equipment for children of all ages and have selected sheltered sites that they can snorkel safely. As the seas become more acidic caused by global warming coral reefs are in great danger. We try to also educate young minds about the variety and importance of the oceans.

Island Trips
With so many islands around there are plenty of opportunities to get out and about. Maybe you just want to spend the day on a deserted beach by yourself. Or if you want more of a challenge visit Koh Adang and go for a walk though the jungle and visit waterfalls. Monkeys, large lizards and sea eagles are just some of the animals that you can see around the park.

Kayaking
Rent a kayak for a few hours and you can explore the reefs around the island, or for a more challenging adventure take a ride on a longtail boat further into the National Park and kayak into mangrove swamps.

How to Get to Us
Koh Lipe is best reached by boat from the pier in Pak Bara in Satun province, although in season there are also boats from Koh Lanta and from Langkawi in Malasyia. You need to plan your trip so as to have enough time to get to the pier before the last ferry for the day leaves.

We can arrange a pick up and transfer to the island from Hat Yai including boat tickets. Please contact us in advance to arrange a pick up.

Once you arrive in Pak Bara go towards the pier and look for Jo’s Elephant Bar. Jo the owner of the bar is very friendly and will sell you ferry tickets and point you in the right direction to catch your boat. Jo’s is also a great place to have a coffee whilst you wait.

Ferry to Koh Lipe
During the main season from November to May there are several ferry operators with boats going from Pak Bara to Koh Lipe. We recommend Tiger Line because they have newer and more stable boats which makes for a more comfortable ride.
